Online Plumbing, Electrical and Gas Permits

In order to obtain permits online, you first need a customer ID and password.

Step 1: Obtain your customer ID and password by providing:

• your name
• address
• phone
• e-mail address
• certificates held (Master Electrician, etc.)

There are several ways to get your ID and password.

• phone (780) 464-8080 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays
• download this form (PDF) and fax it to (780) 464-8145
• visit Planning and Development Services at County Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays

Step 2: Apply for your permit by logging in with your ID and password.

You will need to provide this information for each permit:

• the type of permit
• whether you are a contractor or homeowner
• whether you have the necessary building and development permits
• the property address, rural or urban
• the building type
• whether this is new construction or a renovation
• a description of the work
• the method of payment

Paying for your permit

Option 1: Pay online and receive the permit by e-mail

Pay for your permit online using VISA, MasterCard or American Express. If your information is complete and correct, you will be e-mailed a receipt for your purchase. Your application will be reviewed by our Building Regulations Services staff and if it meets all of our criteria a permit will be e-mailed to you within two business days.

Option 2: Order online, and pay and pick up the permit in person

Particularly if you are ordering several permits at once, you may find it more convenient to apply online and then pick up and pay for your permits at County Hall in Sherwood Park.
 
We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, cash, debit or cheque.
